Nordplus Junior -meeting in Estonia
It´s time to start our project of tourism and metal fields:
Estonia is waiting for us, teachers of Vocational Education Centre Sedu!
We traveled by train from Seinäjoki to Helsinki, then by ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn and the last part by bus from Tallinn to Võru. |
So we saw many beautiful landscapes of Estonia.
After the long travelling day we slept well in Kubija Spa Hotel. |
On Tuesday
project coordinator Siret Lillemäe
took us to a walking tour in the school area.
Tsenter -
Centre of Competence for
Wood Processing and Furniture Manufacturing
An old cowhouse is now a modern centre of wood technology. |
This kind of forest I would like to have in my own kitchen. |
Some old parts of cowhouse have been saved. |
Good ideas for offices. |
New machines help specialists to make great things. |
This building was the first school building about hundred years ago.
Nowadays the school is like this:
So nice interior: chairs are made by own students.
The metal department:
Finnish and Estonian languages are so similar;
we can understand a little bit of their discussions.
Electrical engineering:
The next stop was in the Rauameister company
that makes bigger and smaller metal parts for industry.
The boss was a Finnish man from Rauma.
The European Union
has made excellent desicions
to renovate this area.
This kind of computer would be nice in every school.
You can find all important information of the school,
for example timetables of students and teachers.
Back to hotel and a little walk.
On Tuesday evening we visited
the Unesco World Heritage Site - Mooska!
There is a traditional old smoke sauna.
And some of us were brave enough to taste
a strong alcohol with a viper poison.
I was not one of them...
We had a delicious dinner in Estonian home at Mooska.
On Wednesnay we took part in cooking lessons.
The boss chef |
Teacher Kertu |
Tasty traditional Estonian food |
After the lunch it was time for a little physical exercise:
climbing to the highest hill, Munamägi, in Estonia.
Autumn is so beautiful time of the year.
We visited also the metal company Meisli.
And then we had a shopping tour to Tartu
but after spending money
we saw these beautiful buildings
and The Kissing Students fountain.
This day was very speacial: The brand new Estonian National Museum had opening ceremony for VIP guests. Unfortunately we were not those guests... |
In Võru we had a tasty dinner.
On Thursday we had a tour to Meenikunno hiking area.
The students were our guides. |
The track was also good for disabled people. |
Meteor has visited here a long time ago. |
We ordered the sunny weather... and we got it!
Lunch and playing time.
Do you know different trees? |
If you know you will get this! |
Memory game. We were lucky to have a little girl Arabella in our team. |
Delicious dessert |
In the last evening in Võru
we wanted to still (after the hiking day) walk and see the town.
And then back to hotel to have some rest.
This town is Erki Nool´s home town.
I remember this athlete...
The farewell dinner in Kubija Hotel
We learned to know these wonderful teachers
of Estonian and Lithuanian vocational schools.
It´s nice to meet them and their students
in the end of November in Finland.
Every evening we visited quickly this comfortable spa.
So we did also in the last evening.
Swimming + resting in the warmest pool + relaxing music
= the best spa visit ever
Thank you very much for this nice stay in Võru!
The bread was so tasty,
thank you also for this present (made by students).
See you soon in Sedu in Finland!
